Bryce Canyon Utah

Zion Springdale

When visiting Zion, Springdale is not the only lodging option

When you visit Zion, Springdale is unavoidable. The park’s gateway community, Springdale shares a border with Zion in three directions. Springdale even features a trailhead that leads from the town into the park. Zion’s monoliths tower over the town, which bursts with art galleries, gift shops, eclectic eateries, and lodging options ranging from standard motel rooms to luxury vacation rentals. The town is also home to a giant screen theater, an outdoor amphitheater and a field of buffalo and elk.

While on vacation in Zion, Springdale, however, is not the only lodging option. When you visit Zion, you can expand your trip into a multiple national park vacation since the region is also home to Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Besides National Park Service (NPS) sites, the area boasts Red Canyon, Navajo Lake, Brian Head, Kodachrome Basin State Park, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park.

An alternative lodging headquarters for you trip to Zion besides Springdale is Panguitch. The town is only 24 miles from Bryce Canyon and 32 miles from Cedar Breaks. When in Panguitch, you will enjoy a contrasting landscape – both alpine and red rock scenery are within a short drive. Panguitch is home to the Garfield County Travel Council, an excellent source for the latest information on Zion, Springdale, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, and other scenic and recreation attractions in southern Utah.
