Zion National Park Springdale

When exploring Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah is not the only lodging option – you can escape the crowds in Panguitch and put other national park areas on your itinerary

Zion National Park is an incredible spectacle of towering rock formations, forested plateaus and narrow canyons that attracts approximately 2.5 million visitors every year. While visiting Zion, visitors engage in many types of recreation, from leisurely hikes along the national park’s easy hiking trails, such as Weeping Rock and Emerald Pools, to canyoneering adventures in the backcountry, including the Zion Narrows, Mystery Canyon and The Subway. Visitors can also mountain bike along the Pa’rus Trail or the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, take a horseback ride through a local outfitter, or swim in one of the swimming holes in the Virgin River, Zion’s lifeblood. When staying in Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah is usually visitors’ lodging headquarters.

While visiting Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah is not the only choice for a base camp. If you would like to expand your trip to other area national parks and monuments, Panguitch is an excellent choice. Panguitch is only 24 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park, a incredible display of colorful rock pinnacles and spires in every shape and size. Cedar Breaks National Monument is only 32 miles away and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument lies approximately 75 miles away along Utah’s only All-American Road, Scenic Byway 12.

While Panguitch is also 75 miles from Zion National Park and Springdale, Utah, the charming town is not crowded, a problem that plagues Zion and Springdale in the summer months. In downtown Panguitch, you will find the Garfield County Travel Council, an excellent source for information about the scenery, attractions and recreation in southern Utah.
